Superstar Mammootty is currently in the success of two movies - Yatra and Peranbu. Both the films are not in malayalam. While Peranbu is a Tamil emotional drama by director Ram, Yatra is a biopic of former CM of undivided Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Yatra opened to a great response from the audience in the Telugu speaking states. The film crossed Rs 5-crore mark on its fifth day, according to reports. Trade analysts predict that the box office collection would have gone past Rs 10 crore-mark by now.
The film is also performing well in foreign markets. The film was criticised to be a hagiography of YSR but it has still worked with the audience in the Telugu-speaking states.
Directed by Mahi V Raghav, Yatra stars Jagapati Babu, Suhasini Maniratnam, Ashrita Vemuganti and Rao Ramesh in supporting roles.
Yatra is about the Padayatra that YS Rajasekhara Reddy took in 2003. It is one of the milestone events of Andhra Pradesh politics, which enabled YSR to win the general and assembly election that happened in 2004.
